Fall 2013 Common Reading Experience Classroom Speakers

The Common Reading Experience Program is pleased to announce that the following faculty are available to speak to classes during fall semester, 2013, to spark discussion and inquiry based on the numerous themes of The Unforgiving Minute.  Speakers will help students think about the content and issues of Craig Mullaney’s novel through a particular disciplinary lens; for many first-year students this will be an introduction to the speaker’s discipline. Speakers are encouraged to focus on the “big questions” presented through the text and attempt to connect how their discipline approaches these problems in a way which improves the students’ world views.

If you are a teacher of WRIT 101 or EDHE 105, or another course that has adopted The Unforgiving Minute, please consider contacting one of these speakers and inviting them to your course. Please keep in mind that speakers might not be able to honor your request due to their own commitments, but will make every effort to do so. Each speaker is asked to give no more than 25 speaking engagements during fall semester, and once they reach that limit, they will be unavailable. One week advance notice to speakers is required. Please write to them at their listed e-mail addresses below.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Dr. Robert Cummings, Director of the Center for Writing and Rhetoric, at cummings@olemiss.edu.
